Luxembourg Freedom Initiative (LFI) is a forum of successful global entrepreneurs and professionals from Luxembourg who have come together to address the global issue of modern slavery.
Luxembourg Freedom Initiative hopes to channel the influence that Luxembourg, a founding member of the European Union, has within the community. Luxembourg is a key European financial hub and home to many financial institutions that operate across Europe.
Together with our partner, YouCanFreeUs, our goal is to raise awareness and provide information to individuals and institutions that can influence policy change locally within the country, Europe, and the world.
Our Initiatives
Modern Slavery
Modern slavery is the severe exploitation of other people for personal or commercial gain. Modern slavery is all around us, but often just out of sight. People can become entrapped making our clothes, serving our food, picking our crops, working in factories, or working in houses as cooks, cleaners or nannies.
From the outside, it can look like a normal job. But people are being controlled – they can face violence or threats, be forced into inescapable debt, or have had their passport taken away and are being threatened with deportation. Many have fallen into this oppressive trap simply because they were trying to escape poverty or insecurity, improve their lives and support their families. Now, they can’t leave.

Child Community Development Center, Mumbai, India. This initiative helps prevent the trafficking of children in the most vulnerable areas.

Digitizing Libertas. Libertas, developed by YouCanFreeUs, is a catalytical educational tool in bringing awareness to the world's youth.

Sponsor a victim of modern slavery. 500 euros a month will provide education, life skills training, healthcare, therapy, and residential care for a survivor. Typically each survivor takes two years to graduate through the intensive rehabilitation program of YouCanFreeUs.
